Biography

Tommaso d'Antonio Finiguerra, called Maso Finiguerra (born in Florence in 1426; died in Florence in 1464): goldsmith; as sculptor, assistant to Lorenzo Ghiberti (Florence Baptistery doors); erroneously described by Vasari as the inventor of the engraving. Small-format 'nielli' and an extensive draughtsmanly oeuvre survive.
