Biography

Born in Milan in 1756. Trained there as a theatre painter, architect, and painter of perspectives and landscapes under Pietro Gonzaga. First worked at La Scala, then beginning in 1796 in Frankfurt am Main. Numerous designs for stage sets at the Frankfurt Opera. In 1802 he switched to the National Theatre in Paris, and in 1805 returned to La Scala in Milan, where he died in 1821.
