One Work by Master of the Worcester Carrying of the Cross

Biography

This master is named after the only surviving panel painting by his hand, a Crucifixion, from around 1420 or 1430, formerly in the Worcester Collection in New York (now the Chicago Art Institute). A small group of drawings is also attributed to him on the basis of their style. Scholars suspect he worked in Austria, Bavaria, Franconia or Regensburg, regions in which his style had a lasting influence.
