Biography

Ventura Salimbeni (born in Siena in 1567 or 1568; died in Siena in 1613), was trained by his father along with his stepbrother Francesco Vanni. In 1588 he was involved in various projects in Rome. After returning to Siena in 1595, he produced mainly religious works; he was also active in Florence, Assisi, Perugia, and Pisa. His works employ a bright palette indebted to that of Federico Barocci.
